A Backstage Observer: Aspiring Author/Reader
This is how I feel most days when I pick up a book: sitting backstage longing to be the one upon it.
I don't feel like the audience, like I used to before I took up my pen.
I feel like a stage hand, wanting to be on stage but having to take a seat behind the curtains. I've felt that way before...when I was Props head on the stage of Our Town. It was excruciating at times. Trying to embrace my second best job. I so wanted to be the one in the spotlight.
But something is different now.
Back then, I didn't spot all the flaws of the acting. Actually, I aspired to it. Now, with a book in my hand, all I can see are the flaws glaring at me...and the voice inside my head saying, "Why this? And not mine?"
I am such a bad book club member...while I want to gush over a NYT bestseller, I just can't when there are flaws. And, it's my own issue...because one day, I hope that someone will read my books regardless of the flaws. Which, I am sure there will be many!
I am at the Alley today, sharing about this very topic. Please stop by! www.thewritersalleyblog.com

A Season For...
"Whether it be a slew of rejections on the book of my heart with less and less hope for a "yes", or a broken relationship where time is the only medicine, I am starting to realize the importance of a season versus a momentary lapse.
I would rather throw a fit, move forward, and slap a huge happy band-aid on my struggles. It's worked before. A new contest to enter, a new book proposal to whip up, an apology, a change of scenery...
But what happens when those things just don't cut it? When the future...while glimmering with hope in the distance...just isn't all that pretty in the up-close? When the writing doesn't come, the desire is as parched as a dried up inkwell, and chaos is frantically buzzing around?"
There is healing ahead, but sometimes you just have to know what the season calls for...check out the rest of my post on The Writer's Alley today. Leave a comment too!

Rain In The Desert
![]() |

When we cling close to our God in those times of walking in the desert, He will supply us with an amazing rainy season for our hearts, and guide us when we least expect it!
Here is a sample of my post on the Alley today:
"In my recent encounters in the desert of life, God has presented conversations that have pulled truth from my heart through my lips that I didn't even realize was significant when I read it earlier in His Scripture... BUT IT WAS FOR A TIME SO PERFECTLY PLOTTED BY MY GOD!"
God blesses us in relationship no matter the chaos about us. All we have to do is turn to Him.
